The “Bartolomeo Scappi” school was established in 1987 and has now three branches: Castel San Pietro Terme (the main branch), Casalecchio di Reno and Crespellano – Valsamoggia. Our school is home to more than 2,300 students and 300 teachers.
We are also the leading institution of the “Hospital – School” project, an educational programme addressed to long-term patients in the most important hospitals of the Bologna area.
Our school also offers evening courses for adults and workers. The headmaster is Mr. Vincenzo Manganaro.
Our educational offer is divided into two main paths, which cater for a varied range of demands:
- The “Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management” courses provide the students with extensive expertise and technical skills in the food, wine and reception sectors, with particular attention to the resources and traditions of the local territory;
- The “Tourism Management” course is focused on the international tourism industry, and adopts an approach that is both academic and business-oriented.
Among the many projects carried out by the school we would like to mention the cooperation with Laboratorio Multidisciplinare di Ricerca Storica (Interdisciplinary Laboratory for historical research) of the University of Bologna and with some of the city museums; morover, the possibility for the students to improve their knowledge of foreign languages (English, French, German and Spanish) and to obtain language certifications such as PET or FIRST (for English ) or DELF (for French). We take part in Erasmus projects and enroll in courses and examinations for ECDL certificate.
Furthermore, the school is a member of the regional network of the “Health Education” plan. Every year it hosts workshops, conferences and meetings to raise awareness on the issues of healthy eating, addictions and the importance of physical activity.
